I’m both a new owner of a left-handed UniMouse and new user of a three-button mouse. While my purchase focus was having a left-handed ergonomic mouse, a third button is an intriguing new possibility. On a two-button mouse, even though I’m left-handed, I’ve always used the left button as a primary click, and the right button for secondary clicks. I saw no reason to relearn this, so my first step was reversing primary and secondary positions. My second step was assigning the middle button to double click.

I’m experimenting with different finger positions to click buttons:

1. With my ring finger on primary, my middle finger on double click, and my index finger on secondary, I attempted some Windows 11 tweaking. Results: thinking more about my Unimouse than Windows. Reminds me of learning the flute. 😒

2. to speed things up, I reconfigured the middle button to primary and repositioned my fingers to use just two buttons: middle finger on center (primary + double click) button, and index finger on right (secondary + scrolling) button. Results: thinking more about Windows than the UniMouse. Decades of two-button mouse use transferred over.

I’m curious how many of you fellow left-handers reverse left and right buttons. And how you deploy your fingers on the UniMouse.
